Barbados Accreditation Council
American University of Barbados is accredited by the Barbados Accreditation Council (BAC). Accreditation by BAC is an expression of confidence in the institution's mission and goals, the quality of faculty and students, the quality of academic programmes and the level and appropriateness of resources.
Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP)
CAAM-HP is recognized as comparable to the standard of LCME by the US Department of Education. It ensures that the medical education imparted in the Caribbean countries is at par with the top medical schools in the US. As per ECFMG by the year 2023, medical graduates from non CAAM-HP accredited medical schools will not be able to practice in the US.
World Directory of Medical School (WDMS)
AUB School of Medicine is listed in WDMS, which has been developed through a partnership between the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) in collaboration with the World Health Organization and the University of Copenhagen. This has replaced AVICENNA directory which was previously maintained by World Health Organization and International Medical Education Directory (IMED), maintained by FAIMER.

Medical Council of Canada (MCC)
AUB is recognized by the Medical Council of Canada (based on WDMS listing), and our students are eligible to appear for the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE) for their Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC).
