Message from the Clinical Dean

 Study Medicine In The Caribbean

Dr. Ruksana Nazneen

Clinical Dean
Associate Clinical Dean and Chair of Family Medicine
Chair and Professor of Anatomy
Director of Clinical Clerkships

At American University of Barbados, from the beginning of the MD program there is stress on the development of cognitive, technical, and interpersonal skills that are required to excel in both the USMLE and clinical practice. Case-based discussions and inquiry-based learning are at the heart of the first two years of the MD program, while continuous diagnostic and clinical assessments are tools we utilize for our third and fourth year medical students.

Our on-campus free community clinic provides students with early clinical exposure and one-on-one interaction with the patients, hence their transition into the clinical rotations is with confidence and knowledge to succeed. It also builds their clinical competence and prepares them to function effectively in a clinical setting.

Our students complete their clerkships at affiliated hospitals in the USA and other countries Islands. Furthermore, our graduates are able to pursue medical residency, research, fellowship and academic positions globally.

The practice of medicine has always been fundamental to the society and the challenges faced by the health practitioners make it a rewarding experience. I invite you to consider AUB as an equally exciting and rewarding destination for your medical education.
